Do you know how to prevent your drink being spiked?

Grant Property hope you are all settling in to your new homes. We are now on the official countdown to Christmas and no doubt there will be many nights out and plenty of parties planned for the festive season!

This time of year is a busy time on the party calendar, however, there are certain things worth considering in terms of keeping safe during party season.

To help advise you about keeping safe on these nights out, and at all other  times for that matter, our Dundee Office have teamed up with the Community Police officers in Dundee City Centre to give you some advice and a few safety tips.

We think this is a great way to get this advice to you was to organise a time for you to chat to these guys, therefore we have organised a ‘Safety Drop in Day’ on 28th November where you can drop in between 10am and 12pm also an afternoon session between 1.30pm and 3.30pm to have a chat with the Community officers.

The Community Officers will be there to answer your questions and give advice and tips on topics from home security to ensuring your drink is not spike.

Ex-Fireman, Eddie Lynch will also be there to offer advice on Fire Safety. You may have already met Eddie as he pops into your flats to check your fire safety equipment and has a wealth of experience on fire safety.

So why not pop in for a chat, if you can’t make it we will have some leaflets you can pick up from the Dundee office.

Commonwealth Games boost for graduates...

According to a recent article on the BBC News website, Glasgow City Council aim to provide 1000 jobs for graduates, under a £10 million scheme, in time for 2014 Commonwealth Games. The Commonwealth Graduate Fund will pay half of the salaries for the new graduate jobs (to a maximum of £10,000 per graduate).

Council Leader Gordon Matheson said his aim is to create: "a city of excellence" where by it encourages students to push the boundaries and supports business growth and development.  Although, he recognises that it will not be easy: "Times are hard. But there are things the council can do to help by offering support to help you create jobs and foster entrepreneurship"

Furthermore, Mr Matheson has plans to introduce Youth Enterprise Zones to help younger people set up their own business. They will offer help such as mentoring and micro-finance. With a target to achieve 1000 jobs for unemployed young people, the fund is to focus on those who have not had a job for more than 6 months.
