I Love Weekend - Our guide to what's on in your city

The semester has started but there’s still loads to do before the heavy coursework sets in! Or perhaps you’re already needing a break from the early starts and late nights! Whatever the reason, there is lots to do across the UK this weekend.

What better festival/event for students over the weekend than Oktoberfest in Edinburgh? Eat, Drink and be German - Edinburgh will celebrate the age-old Bavarian celebration of beer and sausages in style. Find out more here, and don't worry, Edinburgh isn't the only city that will be officially celebrating it. Aberdeen, Glasgow and Dundee.

If you prefer your Japanese animation to your beer, then there is the 'Scotland Loves Animation' festival over the next week or so. If you are based in or near Glasgow or Edinburgh and are a fan of your Studio Ghiblis or your Production I.G's then this event will be right for you!

Weird Al Yankovic, the master of the musical parody and the artist who brought you 'White and Nerdy', Amish Paradise and Eat It, is bringing his world tour, world-class comedy to Glasgow for one night only. We have checked the website and there are still tickets available, and although he may never stop making musical parodies, it would give you HUGE bragging rights to say you've seen him in person.

In Aberdeen you can get your mosh on at the Union Street Music Hall on Saturday to Bullet For My Valentine, or you can rock out to old school Scottish rockers, Gun at the Aberdeen Garage on Friday.

You can laugh your socks off at Just Laugh the Dundee Rep Centre tonight from 8pm. Or if you want to have yourself a nice little hoedown then head down to The Whitehall Theatre for the superstar voice of Irish Americana singer, Jimmy Buckley.
