Even in the safest living environments, we are all open to every day dangers, and it's important to know how to avoid these situations.
It is also important to understand what can cause dangerous incidents such as fires.
We realise that some of these may cause you an inconvenience, but please bear in mind that this is all for your benefit.
- Doors must not be wedged open at any time.
- Door closers must never be adjusted or removed
- Hallway must be kept clear of any obstructions or combustibles, including laundry, furniture and bicycles, at all times
- Smoke detectors must be checked on a weekly basis and the log provided updated – any defective batteries should be replaced by you immediately
- Fire blankets and extinguishers should not be removed from the correct location
- No hooks should be placed on back of doors and clothes not to be hung on back of doors as this can cause obstruction in the event of fire and interferes with the fire integrity of the door.
- Strip sockets (extension leads) to be unplugged when not in use.
- Any electrical appliance should be unplugged when not in use.
- When a strip socket in use and a 13amp fused appliance is plugged in, no other appliance can be plugged into this strip socket.
- If an electric blanket is used, this can only be plugged into a wall socket, not an extension lead.
- Candles not to be used in property.
- Property to be kept clean and tidy.
