How to celebrate your exams where you are

Exams over? It’s time to celebrate! If not it’s the weekend and it’s probably time to get a well-earned study break in.

Geordie Shore glam comes to Dundee this weekend! Celebrate the end of exams with Geordie Shore’s very own Gaz at Tropicana.

Get some contemporary art at the Stirling Smith Art Gallery. Explore the changes to art over the past 100 years. Or head to the Thistles Shopping Centre where The Crafters Roadshow is.

National Theatre Scotland brings home the play that delighted critics at last year’s Edinburgh Festival. Our Ladies of Perpetual Succour is at the SECC this weekend.

There’s more opportunity for a pint of something interesting, in Edinburgh. On Friday and Saturday night it’s the Summerhall Beer FestivALE. Expect local brewers at the arts venue.

It’s the first time he’s been on tour for 4 years. Eddie Izzard’s at Force Majeure at Lakeside Arts Centre in Nottingham tonight. Tickets are just £14.

What's on this weekend

This weekend Ben Ottewell, formerly of Gomez, takes his Acoustic Tour to Café Drummonds in Aberdeen. Doors open at 7pm tonight.

It’s Simply Acoustic, a one man orchestra on Saturday night in Dundee. Mr Black is at Westport Bar from ten until 12.

In Stirling go and see 5 Soldiers. This contemporary dance act has been gaining praise from military audiences for simply getting ‘it.’ It’s on Friday and Saturday 7.30 pm tickets £5- £10.

Jamie Jones will be keeping Glasgow jumping until 2am on Saturday morning. Love Action presents Jamie Jones. 

It’s a night of Celtic fun at the National Museum of Edinburgh. Idlewild are playing an acoustic set and craft activities from Red Door Gallery. 

In Nottingham Graeme of Thrones is getting a run for its money. Graeme of Thrones is on at the Nottingham Playhouse, see it before the lawsuit kicks in!

Exam Stress begone - it's our guide to what's on this weekend.

Exams and deadlines might be all around but it’s the weekend. We all know carving out some time to let your hair down makes the study hours more effective.

This Friday and Saturday Breakfast at Tiffany’s comes to HMT! Colin Ingram and Peter Kane present a Curve Theatre Leicester Production and put Holly Golightly on your stage.

Shake the stress of at The Union in Dundee. It’s hosting POP! You can have a drink, enjoy a bouncy castle and get some free candy floss. On Saturday night Ska funk rockers The Purple Felts are playing Conroy’s Basement on Saturday night.

On Saturday it’s time to educate your palate, some of the biggest distillers and independent bottlers are gathering at the Highland Hotel for the Stirling Whisky Festival 2016. It’s a great chance to learn lots and talk to the experts. Tickets are £27.50 and there are morning or afternoon sessions.

Tonight and tomorrow it’s the Byres Road fashion show. If you’re not already in the know find out about the fashion the West End has to offer. All proceeds go to charity and the show will illustrate the eclectic mix that the West End has to offer! @Tramway art show continues too.

For a tenner you can see the classic epic The Illiad at the Royal Lyceum Theatre in Edinburgh, every night until next Saturday. It’s Chris Hannans’s adaptation of the famous play set during the Trojan War. 

If you’re in Nottingham this Friday meet Geordie Shores own Big Brother winner Scotty T! You’ll have to jump on a train but he’s at Popworld in Derby on Friday night for their #hashtag party.

What's on this weekend?

May Day, May Day our spring needs saved! Here’s hoping that the May Day weekend can save it. No matter what happens, there’s lots plenty going on across Scotland.

Up North it’s a celebration of visual arts in the Deen this weekend. Lookagain includes loads, including Doug Fishbone Boomin’ Bus Tour for over 18s only. There’s lots of free stuff too so check it out.

In Dundee Cirque de Soleil meets magic Mike, it’s Forbidden Nights at the Whitehall Theatre on Friday, get together for a giggle.

You’ll need your energy if you’re in Stirling, it’s I am a Raver on Saturday night from 9.30back at The Warehouse.

Tina Turner fans get ready to sing your heart out in Glasgow, Totally Tina comes to the Pavillion Theatre.

In Edinburgh it’s the Waverley Market and there’s a screening of Purple Rain at the Filmhouse at 8.45pm on Saturday to mark the passing of Prince.

In Nottingham the Rocky Horror Show is coming to the Theatre Royal, tonight. Tickets range from £18 to £39.50.

What's on this weekend!?

Take a load off this weekend. With exams and deadlines looming it’s a busy time of year. It’s important to make the most of the sunshine while we have it, so remember to explore the parks, golf courses and beaches in your city too.

For fans of Aphex Twin Nottingham is the place to be this weekend. Three Trapped Tigers play to crowds upstairs at The Bodega at 7pm Friday night, £11.25.

Tonight in Edinburgh get patriotic and head to the The Tartan Underground. There’s live music at The Jazz Bar 6.30 -8.30 pm and it’s free entry ‘til 8pm.

The Aussies have arrived on the West coast. Glasgow Australia’s premier DJ Timmy Trumpet at is SWG3 10pm – 2am tonight. Entry is £24.50 and it’s bound to be a great night.

Get your groove on and your lighters up to ‘Female of the Species’, a different kind of sound’s going down in Stirling tonight. 90’s indie kids Space come to Warehouse in Falkirk on Friday night. It’s just £16.50 and doors open at 7pm.

A huge choir hits Dundee’s West End tonight. Musical theatre extravaganza with a 200 strong choir and starring the talented Christine Bianco and X-Factor star Ray Quinn enjoy songs from the best loved shows in the West End.

Only mature palettes may apply in Aberdeen this weekend as the AECC hosts Aberdeen Whisky Fest. The third round of this now thriving festival will showcase a wide variety of drams, as well as some more exclusive whiskies. There’s the chance to talk to the experts about their particular drams and get involved in masterclasses too. Doors are open from 12 – 5pm and with £30 entry for one, or 2 for £40 it’s worth sharing the knowledge.

What's on weekend

We’re well into the month of April showers but don’t let the meek and mild weather get you down – there’s plenty to be enjoying this weekend, wherever you are.

Aberdonians can start the weekend off with a celebration of the late powerhouse diva, Whitney Houston. Whitney: Queen of the Night is a celebration of her music and life at His Majesty’s Theatre on Friday from 7.30pm.

Friday night means it’s time to relax down at the Bodega in Nottingham, with Mike Dignam. The acoustic singer-songwriter takes to the stage in the evening, doors are at 7pm.

If acoustic isn’t your style, maybe you’ll appreciate some of music’s biggest legends? If you’re in Dundee at the weekend then the Gardyne Theatre is the place to on Saturday, where Roy Orbison and he Travelling Wilburys tribute show will take you back to music’s good old days.

Alternatively, if you’re a fan of the dram, Stirling students be sure to head to Falkirk Town Hall on Saturday evening for Whisky Galore. This play is set on the fictional islands of Great Toddy and Little Toddy and will leave you a little merry.

Round your weekend off in true rock and roll style at the Hydro on Sunday, where Muse command the venue for the evening. Doors are early at 6pm, so bear that in mind if you plan to go wild down the front.

If you fancy keeping things healthy, why not take part in the Great Edinburgh Run this Sunday? The 10-mile race is open for registration from 9am and takes in landmarks such as Edinburgh Castle, Greyfriar’s Bobby and the Royal Mile along the way. One to blow away the cobwebs after a heavy weekend!

Explore this Easter break

It’s the Easter holidays and there is loads to do wherever you are. If you haven’t already explored what the other University cities across Scotland have to offer we recommend doing it now. It’s the perfect opportunity.

In Dundee at the Reading Rooms, All Good presents Canadian Heidi. Doors open at 10 pm, tonight Friday 8^th.  Tickets are £15 - £17. That’s not all. On Sunday night lost heroes of Scottish pop Swiss Family Orbison are at Fat Sam’s and tickets for this family reunion are just £14.

On Monday night the man who made jazz cool, Gregory Porter brings his sound to the Music Hall, doors open 7:30 pm.

There are bodily fluids, disturbing events and Moby Dick references abound in Stirling this weekend. The hilarious political play International Waters by David Leddy is at the Macrobert Arts Centre, tonight at 7:30 pm Tickets range from £5-12.

In Glasgow it’s the opening of Glasgow International Festival 2016, the contemporary art festival is back and 75 exhibitions, performances and projects have popped up across the city.

In Edinburgh dance the night away to rising French dance star Michael Calfan at Why Not. Doors open at 10pm and the party keeps running until 3am.

From today Turner Prize winner Simon Starling’s biggest exhibition to date is at Nottingham. This is your chance to see contemporary art that’s never been seen in the UK before and runs until Sunday June 26^th, 10 am – 6 pm daily.
