Our summer weekend guide, whatever the weather

The sunshine may be hiding but it’s still the weekend. This week the Edinburgh Festival Guide came out so it feels like summer to us. Here’s our guide to what’s on in your part of the country.

In Aberdeen there’s home grown comedy. Flying Pig Productions, Aberdeen’s own comedy team are at HMT. It’s the last two nights of their latest instalment on Friday and Saturday. Tickets range from just £17 – £28.50.

If you’re in Dundee On Sunday at Duke’s Corner is the Summer Art Fair from noon to 6pm. The art is available to buy and food and drinks is available too so check out some local talent while you enjoy a spot of lunch.

Tonight at the Tolbooth in Stirling Edinburger, Adam Holmes and his band The Embers are on stage. It is Scottish Traditional music for the next generation and Holmes started out on the fiddle at 14. Their new album Brighter Still is released today so it should be a great gig.

Also tonight it’s the Cheesy Science Chewtorial at the fab Siempre Bicycle café in Glasgow’s Partick. It’s £15 to join in this part of the Glasgow Science Festival from 7pm – 9pm.

There’s more Scottish talent around with Tartan Underground at The Jazz Bar on Chambers Street. It’s hosted by Sher Watson 6.30pm – 8.30 pm Friday night.

The Nottingham Playhouse host The Complete Deaths, clever and funny analysis we recommend you check out. It’s Spymonkey co-production with Brighton Festival and Royal & Derngate Northampton. Tickets range to £14-16 on Friday night and looks at the onstage deaths in the works of Shakespeare. Also bringing local talent to the stage 20 year old Joe Miles brings commercial pop to the Bodega Social in Nottingham tonight at 7pm. His fifth EP is out now, and he’s 3rd generation music royalty.
